CATV systems are evolving from television broadcast networks to WDM bi-directional systems that support a variety of services including broadcast television, video-on-demand and high-speed Internet access via cable modems. JDSU offers a line of integrated components specifically for CATV.
Enterprise networks provide a variety of services including virtual private networks (VPNs), intranet, Internet access, voice, and more. JDSU provides a broad range of optical products for enterprise networks including transceivers, transponders, EDFAs, transmitters, receivers, CWDM, DWDM mux/demux, optical switches, and WaveReady™ edge access products.
FTTx applications bring fiber, and higher bandwidth, nearer to the user and include fiber-to-the-curb, fiber-to-the-office, and fiber-to-the-home architectures. These segments of the network include Passive Optical Network (PON) architectures, such as BPON (broadband PON), EPON (Ethernet PON), and GPON (Gigabit PON) and require lower costs than do upstream portions closer to the network core. JDSU provides products for FTTx applications from the central office transmission modules, switching and amplifiers to couplers and splitters used in PON architectures and is expanding its portfolio for this emerging market.
